Pre-Admission

Preparations:

Regardless of the surgery, you’ll have questions. The most often asked question is, “What do I need to do?” Do not drink or eat anything after midnight (including water) unless otherwise directed by your physician, or your surgery may be canceled. If you are taking medication, please check with your doctor for per-surgery instructions.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy for changing. Be sure to shower or bathe the morning before surgery (this will minimize the risk of infection). Call your physician if you develop a cold, fever or show any signs of illness.

Leave all valuables at home, including jewelry, contact lenses, credit cards and large sums of money. Please understand that for your safety, all patients must be accompanied by a responsible adult to drive them home. A parent or a legal guardian must accompany children under the age of 18 and remain in the facility at all times.

Make arrangements for transportation to and from the hospital, as well as for someone to be at home to take care of you.

If any problems develop after you return home, contact your physician immediately.
